Ham Radio Online Reprint Policy
and Link Suggestions, Including Button and Logo files
Many readers write and ask us for permission to reprint material that has
appeared here in Ham Radio Online - or to ask if its okay to link
to our web site. In general, we allow individuals and clubs to reprint
all of our articles or link to our web site (see How
To Link To Our Web Site) according to the following simple guidelines.
Simple Reprint Guidelines
-
You may reprint any article that we produce and for which we have the right
to extend reprint permission. If the article says "Copyright Virtual Publishing
Co." then this is an article that we have produced and which you may reprint.
You may wish to send email to the author's article letting him or her know
that you are reprinting the article.
-
With your reprinting of an article, please place the following notice in
a reasonably visible location (such as where you would list an article's
author):
"Reprinted with permission from Ham Radio Online magazine,
available for free on the Internet at http://www.hamradio-online.com".
-
You may generally reprint any newsletter that appears here subject to the
distribution rules contained in the various newsletters.
-
Automatic reprint permission is extended to non-commercial, non-profit
publications like ham radio club newsletters and non-commercial, non-profit
web sites. Automatic reprint permission is not extended to
commercial publications and commercial web sites whether run by profit
or not-for-profit businesses. A commercial web site is any web site that
sells products. Commercial web sites or publications should contact us
directly about using our content.
Note: One commercial amateur radio web site "borrowed" a lot
of our content, edited the text slightly and then placed their own copyright
notice on our work. If you happen to surf the Internet and run across commercial
web sites whose pages look a lot like ours, we strongly encourage you to
avoid doing business with them. If these people cheat and steal the work
of others, how do you suppose they treat their customers?
-
Except for our product reviews, do not use our articles in a manner that
suggests an association with or an endorsement of a particular product,
person or controversial idea. If you like our product review and wish to
share it or mention it in your publicity, that is okay with us.
-
For a few articles, we have received reprint permission from others and
we do not have the right to sublicense their work. For example, the reprint
of the Sports Illustrated article, The Battle of the Hams was published
here with permission of Sports Illustrated. We can not, however, sublicense
that right to others.
-
You do not need to write and ask us for permission. But if it is easy,
could you drop us a short email letting us know which article you are printing
and in what publication you are using our articles? Thanks!
-
Some images are Copyright © Corel Corporation 1994 and we cannot sub-license
their usage to you. Many of the images are done by us - please write and
ask about specific images if you wish to reprint a picture.
