The Amateur Radio Emergency Services provides local and long distance communications services during local, regional, national and international emergencies. The following charts and sites provide information on current disaster conditions where Amateur Radio communication services may be in progress. Please note that these charts are loaded from the remote sites where they are generated and occassionally, may not be available.

U.S. Energy Demand Information

High energy demand can lead to widespread power outages, as occurred on 10 August 1996 when the western half of the United States lost power due to electricity demand 45.9% above normal. Power outages can result in communications failures. Weekly energy demand forecasts are produced by the Consolidated Gas Company and presented by USA Today online newspaper as this weekly energy summary report. The rightmost column in the text report indicates the percent above or below normal.
