MSN Online Service Drops Amateur Radio Forum

Without explanation, the MSN online service has dropped the Amateur Radio Forum and many other online forums as well. According to Rick McMillion, WB7UGZ, the former forum adminstrator, ham radio enthusiasts on MSN are starting to regroup after the MSN Amateur Radio Forum was deleted. Rick also notes that the German edition of the Amateur Radio Forum (MSN is a worldwide service with local content in local languages) continues in operation.

For now, the ham group is gathering on the MSN Electronics BBS area for amateur radio news and information. Published reports indicate that MSN is converting from a proprietary online service into an Internet based information service. Some Amateurs report that they think the Amateur Radio Forum will return in a new form after MSN completes its restructuring.

While waiting for a more permanent home, ham radio users of MSN can find at least a temporary home in the Electronics BBS. MSN users can find the MSN Electronics BBS by using the Go Word ELECTRONICSBBS while on MSN.
